Behind the Scenes

What kind of fabric do we use and where is it from?

At Lennon the Label we use a fabric that is 78% ECONYL® Regenerated Nylon and 22% Lycra Xtra LifeTM. It's called Vita from Carvico which is made out of pre and post consumer waste products and is imported from Italy. ECONYL® Nylon is made with 100% regenerated pre and post-consumer waste. My manufacturer has a local supplier in Bali called Paramatex which they source the fabric from.

Where is your manufacturer, and is it ethical?

When looking for the perfect manufacturer it took quite sometime until an ad on instagram popped up. At the time it was for a small start-up Australian owned swimwear agency looking to help aspiring designers. I worked alongside a woman named Shiralee who was the owner of the manufacturer! She assured me many times in our discovery calls, as well as in messages, that she prioritises good health, safety, and fair pay for everyone involved, including workers and their environment.

Our shipping labels are also compostable with a natural adhesive backing to them to eliminate toxic adhesives from the environment. Shipping labels - Hero Packaging

The compostable hygiene liners are made out of a few different renewable materials including wood pulp, glassine paper and a non-toxic adhesive that is easy to wash off the garments with warm water.  Local Beach Cleans

As of right now we don't have any planned as Madds needs to find and organise the right resources to be able to sort the garbage/recycling to be discarded appropriately. She encourage's you during your next visit to the beach look around and see how much you can find and sort it into the proper bins. She will take a small reusable bag to the beach each time she goes to make a habit of leaving it cleaner than before and sort it when she gets home. We will do our best to update you as much as we can on both the local and international beach cleans.

International Beach Cleans

Same for the international beach cleans, as we are still starting out Madds is making sure she can still do what she can locally. We are trying our best at Lennon to make this happen within the next year so it can hopefully go live with our next collection! We just want to ensure that everything follows the rules of each country and making sure we won't make more work than before. We will do our best to update you as much as we can on both the international and local beach cleans.
